Whats the worse accident you've had....

My most surprising incident was probably when I was out hacking an anglo arab I had a few years ago. She was a lovely hacker so I was mooching along on a long rein when suddenly a pheasant flew out (why DO they do that?!) - she stepped sideways but unfortunately that was off a massive vertical bank... We fell sideways off this bank landing right onto a rusty barbed wire fence which she then got caught in. Eventually she got free but had a bleeding nose and a massive gauge out of her hind stifle. It was horrible. Had to walk home (didnt have my mobile = stupid!) with this poor pony dripping in blood. Took ages for her leg to heal but she made a full recovery thankfully. It's just amazing what can happen in only seconds!

Had horses bolt with me on hacks - my first pony bolted with me flat out along a tarmac road home, a rig we had on loan bolted with me out through an open gateway and we promptly fell over and slid down the road etc. and one of mines gone THROUGH a barbed wire fence (me & barbed wire have never mixed well), he still has the scars on his chest and hind legs. Needless to say, I no longer hack! :P I'll merrily gallop round a XC course but hacking is just terrifying!

In order of damage
fractured skull, no I wasn't wearing a hat, but it was in the 70's when hats were little better than useless, galloped into a overhanging bough and failed to duck quite far enough
twisted pelvis, stupidly thought I could showjump competetively only 4 weeks after a C- section - fell off
broken hip, bucked off by 4 yo out hacking
and numerous other minor bumps and bruises to fingers and toes

by far the funniest was the day my friend and I were out, she caught a springy branch against her body as she cantered up a track, didn't warn me, first I knew was when it whipped back and took me clean off the back of the horse - leaving my jod boots in the stirrups - nothing more than pride bruised that day
