I assume my 2 have been playing a little too roughly and my pony has caught my youngster on his neck, just at the side near the bottom and a fair sized swelling/lump has appeared. It's not hard. I imagine it's full of liquid or something? Not something I've had to deal with before and he appears fine but do I need to get the vet out to treat this or just keep an eye on it to see if it goes down?

Thank you!

Oedema. It will probably go down on its own but worth keeping an eye on. I don't call vets out for things like this but it depends on your level of knowledge and how to deal with it as to whether you do or not.

Personaly I would just watch it for a few days and see what happens. I would expect it to go down, but if it gets sore or grows, then I would call the vet.

Cold compress (wine cooler wraps are nice and flexible, could you attach one briefly whilst supervising?) or it might leave a mark. I'm gutted that my boy has a funny depression where he had a reaction to a fly bite.
