We have a 10yr old female Italian Spinone. She is on tablets for her thyroid problem, which seems to be maintaining the correct levels.

About a month ago we noticed that some mornings her tumm made loud gurgling noises. So loud that you could hear them at the top of the stairs when she was at the bottom! On the noisey tummy days she would have to be persuaded to eat her breakfast.

OH decided to change her food from superdog to skinners, so we're in the process of doing it gradually.

This morning she was very gurgly and didn't eat her breakfast. I put a chew in the bowl and she picked that out and then ate her breakfast....very odd.

Any ideas?

Generally tummy's rumble when they are empty, or have not had much food on them, the tablets may make the rumbling worse, as most have to be taken with food, my old girl, gets a terrible rumbling tummy if she does not eat much.
Same as us humans I suppose, change of food will also do it, seen as the digestion is working a little harder, dealing with the change.

Hi Cala, thanks for replying. The rumbling started before the food change....we thought it might be because she's empty, so we started feeding her later at night. So now she's fed at 7am and 7pm. I would have thought she'd be wolfing her brekkie down though if she was hungry?

I've had dogs that only eats what they need, that almost never wolfs down anything and definitely not only because they're hungry. And I've had dogs that almost always wolfed down any food, even if they ate 10 minutes earlier.
