Poor Flyn is not very happy
frown.gif

I noticed yesterday after shooting, he came home very miserable and didn't eat or drink (as far as I know) anything all evening. This is totally out of character as he is usually a typical happy, bouncing spaniel.

The most obviously sympton is that he is drooling from one side, quite long lines of saliva that contain debris - although not smelly or pussy.

I have really examined his mouth and felt all round and along down his gullet but can't seem to find a thing, nor does he show any pain at any point.

This morning he did eat a little bit of breakfast but he still miserable and still drooling from the same side. He wouldn't even jump into the car this morning - I had to lift him in.

Has anybody ever encountered anything similar? Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

ETA: I think I can feel a soft lump within the flesh on his gullet but again he is not showing any signs of discomfort when I prod it.

It sounds like a mouth or tooth problem. He could have a bad tooth or abcess beneath a tooth causing the drooling and the lack of interest in food. The pain will make him generally off colour as you described.

Perhaps a visit to the vets is the best thing, hope Flyn feels better soon.

usually drool like this when they have teeth abscesses or need a dental. an obstruction of the palate, as u describe could result in these symptoms, could he have gotten hold of a bone and a small fragment has gotten lodged causing blockage, or ingestion of a chemical.
Or maybe a benign lump in his throat.

QR: It was an abcess - its burst - Yuk!

Just ten minutes after posting this, his mouth was full of puss - it made me retch - urghhh! I have cleaned his mouth out and found the lump under his tongue - poor thing, no wonder he was miserable.

I have given him some Anti B's and have enough left to last until Monday - but hopefully, now its draining he should be ok very soon but will keep a close eye on him.

Thanks for replying everyone and I think we probably all came to pretty much the same conclusion!
