Unfortunately I have no ideas about this, but I will say that we've been told at vet school that "most shoulder lameness is in the foot" (ie. most of the times an owner thinks the lameness looks like it comes from the shoulder, it will actually be something in the foot)

The best advice I can give you is to call your vet if you are worried.

Totally agree with MP. It could be from being ridden hard - has he ever been stiff like this before after hunting? Was it a particularly punishing ride? How old is he? But equally, he could have damaged something and if so it could be anything from a sprain to something much, much more serious. I would provide basic first aid and call the vet.

call the vet! it mide be something as siple as brusing or a pulled muscle witch will be fine with time off arnica and massage but it could be a lot worse were x rays are needed!

Agree with MP,
Same situation as vet student (not as advance but getting there!) but same advice has been given to us, most lameness is in the foot!
Check him all down his leg checking for heat or swelling, lumps or bumps, or any tenderness, including on the sole of his feet!

If you are really concerned call the vet straight away!

its been two days now and i turned him out in the morning and he was fine he was walking round the field with no limp or anything... but he is still a bit stiff when i pick his foot up and he waits a few seconds before bending it??? ive rubed heating cream and sombody told me to rub udder mint on it to heat it up and reduce any swelling that might occur..
