I'm quite new so sorry if this is in the wrong place! I was looking on ebay and saw this horsebox for sale:

I was wondering what resident horsebox experts thought of it? I know it is quite cheap so does that mean theres something wrong with it? Also could anyone extimate rough costs (MOT/Insurance/Fuel for weekend trips etc)?

I don't have a 7.5tonne liscence but was planning on taking my trailer test this summer; but I could take the one for this instead? In the meantime my mum can drive it anyway.

I would imagine the reason this box is so cheap is that parts for it are very hard to come by, thats why I sold my Bedford TK 8 years ago because even then parts were becoming hard to get hold of.

Things that might be wrong with it include: age, size (v big), location (long way from most places), not plated (could be costly??), cab needs work.

Also, if they have a new baby they could probably do with the money rather than an unused horse box.

You could email them for more info, phone no for chat, more photos.

But could be a bargain.

Yeah I suppose size is quite big. I only have one horse (and a youngster) so ideally we wanted a 3.5 tonne. I think well have to get an older box but 3.5's around a similar age seem to be much more expensive.

Location is 15 mins from me to pick up :D; i guess ill have to look into plating. I hate buying cars and stuff; I have no idea about that sorta thing. Will need to befriend a mechanic I think

It's got no windows.
It looks like a steel frame which is very heavy, leaving you with no payload.
To plate it could cost you several thousands.

It's not that cheap, considering what it could cost to get it running.

Plating is so much more detailed than an MOT - You'll prob find it needs a lot of work to get it through as it they thought it would pass I'm pretty sure they would of put it thought as they would get a lot more interest!

The other one looks quite nice but its so big if you only have one horse, you'd be much better off with a 3.5t

Remember if things look too good to be true.....they usually are!

Im curious why do you
think plating is any diferent than a mot on a van ??? they test the same items and expect them to be to the standard .. yes the driver sits in the lorry and follows the testers instruction is that what you mean ??
