If you won the Euromillions and money was no object what sort of yard would you have?? I'm going for a courtyard yard with the garden in the centre. All nice, cool, stone stables with undercover tie up and a covered walk way straight to the indoor school which would be about 80m by 30m so it was big enough to jump properly in. Next to that would be my 60m by 60m rubber out door arena with floodlights and a full set of showjumps. There would also by the 60m by 20m dressage arena. The start of my 2 mile all weather gallop would by around here heading slightly uphill but in a gentle curve. There would be a walker, solarium and heated washroom. My tack room would have heated rug racks and monster washing machines for manky horse kit. All the paddocks would have natural, horse friendly hedging and at least one mature tree to provide extra shade but no oaks as fed up of picking up acorns!! There would be absolutely no mud and the fields would drain so you could turn out all year. Not to forget my beautiful cross country training field with large water complex. Not that I've thought about it at all !!!

Well I'm happy to say that my dream yard is where we've just moved to

Enough acreage to harvest our own haylage for the year and provide all year turnout - massive field shelter - enough stables for a few spare in an internal barn which is situated just outside the house - for me... that's perfect

I would have a nice little yard on the foot of the downs - 4 stables max, nice floodlit school and plenty of turnout. Oooh perhaps an XC course wouldn't go amiss!

i would have a court yard with stables around it and a trim lawn in the middle, and archway going onto a long drive to quite country hacking! i would have 2 arena! one for dressage and one for jumping! a few xc jumps! a huge amount of well draining turnout! a solarium, a horse walker or sea walker. a and a heated rug room.

not much i know!

One that had a bridle path that was accessible without having to go on the roads.
Decent sized arena, preferably indoor

Lovely turnout where there gateways don't get muddy! And enough for 24/7/365 turn out. Decent shelters.
Indoor stables that are very big and light.
Few XC jumps would be nice.
Would have hot running water, solarium, rug dryers, very very secure tack room, lovely drainage.
Would be glorious to have my house on site.

All I need now is the jackass to pay for it all

Courtyard stables, stone, with pantile roof. covered tie up area outside the stables. tap in each stable for washing out and filling buckets. solarium. horse walker. all weather gallops. indoor school (possibly an outdoor too) cross country course, show jumps. enough grass to make own hay and graze horses all year....

I clearly haven't thought about it either!

a huge american barn with about 30 stables in it with the partitions in green and gold
a massive tackroom with so much storage so there is nothing laying around
horsewalker
wash room
rug room
cross country course complete with drops, steps, ditches, water etc
huge indoor school with the best surface!!
60m square outdoor all weather arena
a big selection of show jumps and fillers
solarium
white post and rail fences round the fields
perfect ground which was always just right
some good hills for getting the horses fit
automatic outside water feeders
haybars in each stable
field hoover for mucking out

oh i could go on forever :P

Yours sounds almost perfect so I'll nick that but have a track system with lots of different surfaces on it, for daytime turnout, leading on to fields, for night time turnout, with a come and go as you please barn/yard area. Separate stables in case they're needed. A massive arch to ride under to go out hacking on miles and miles of off road country routes.

Hehe my friend and I were dscussing this the other day, I thought I was bad as my ambition was well thought over (and almost identical to the OP) however my friend had even gone as far as to work out how much hers would cost...£5m minimum!

My perfect yard would go like this.....

Fields with decent fencing and masses of natural shelter, wooded areas preferably. Carefully managed grass.

24/7/365 herd turnout

I'd build a big covered barn, containing a couple of isolation stables for box rest etc, tack and feed rooms and to provide a dry, safe area for vets, farriers, and dentists to work and to tie up.

And a 60x40 well maintained outdoor rubber menage with jumps.

And fab hacking.

That all I want - no horse walkers, no indoor school, no immaculate stables
