Bit of a light hearted one :)

My favourite moment was in 1986 when i had had my Rocket for two years. We hadnt done any showing/ x country or anything really, as my confidence had massively dipped. Mum entered my into a little local xc and jsut lugged me into the car and set me off. I was terrified. But once I got going, I suddenly felt such a rush of love for my little boy. He kept me safe, and in the end we came third, which was of no importance. That to me was the moment where our relationship was truly cemented, and we have never looked back. Not once since has he ever let me feel unsafe or scared. I love him!!!! Ah, getting teary just writing this!

If you had to pinpoint a moment, what would it be? :D

When I heard our yard owner shouting at Captain, I ran out and he had sneaked/ pushed his way out of the field. He would not let her catch him but he was as good as gold, putting his head down and letting me put the head collar on and lead in perfectly. The reason I was so pleased is because when we bought him he'd been badly treated and was very aggressive/difficult it used to take 4 people to lead him down the yard and he was a nightmare, rearing and kicking out.Now he was walking like a gentleman and behaved perfectly. he still does and hasn't had one of his "moments" for a long time.

I had owned my boy for onlly a few months and had a weeks holiday, leaving the YO in charge of him, at grass livery.

When i got back was told no one could get near him but he was fine, nothing wrong.

I went in to his field with some 6 or 7 other boys having been told I wouldn't be able to get near him, he had gone feral!

I didn't see him at first so I called his name. I saw two ears appear over the top of the biggest horse in the field. I called again and he came galloping up to me and did everything bar putting his front legs round my neck, bless him!

Everyone was very surprised when I appeared in the yard with him, YO was gutted. I gave him a small feed and a groom and turned him back out.

Every morning when I hear Fergie calling me as I get out the car. He's always the first of my boys to look up and see me, whenever I get on the yard, and he always comes trotting over to wait for me.

XC schooling at the start of the month was great too as it really made me think about our future and all we can try to acheive :D With J I just don't think I could pull out a single moment from our years of fun, and Darach has it all to come :D

today for example, when the sun came out, little drops of water sparkled on the grass, and me on my girl galloping across the field, i loved it, she loved it and i just couldn't help but smile. it was lovely :)

I think my best horsey moment was spending half an hour recently curled up with my cob whilst he was lying down having a snooze. I rarely get the catch any of mine lying down let alone sit with them so it was lovely to just lean up against him and chill out.

When my foal rocky was born he wouldnt suckle, he was rather numb to be honest and we thought he wouldnt survive...first 24hours involved tubes up his nose down into his throat every few hours to pump milk in it was horrrible, he screeched everytime:(...we were even milking the poor mare like a cow and squirting milk in his face-still werent interested, good job the mare was laid back.after trying all the usual wife tales of trying to get him to suckle we eventually got him milking from a bottle and between me and the other yard girls through the next night and day we did 3 hours each just holding the bottle up to the mares bag to encourage him but he didnt want to bother he were at the point where he couldnt stand up for long with out collapsing over and just sleeping forever...3 oclock next morning while i was trying to defeat sleep he eventually latched onto his mums bag.i could of strangled him for sleep depriving me and screamed for joy of him being a little fighter and proving everyone wrong but i just sat there crying with joy :D

My favourite moment was probably when I picked my boy up to bring home. I've been riding since I was 8, I'm now 20. Always bothered mum and dad about buying me a pony (although am very glad they didn't) I finally got a good job and decided to start looking for a horse, never thought in a million years I would see my boy again when I left the Northern Racing College (he was my favourite there) but heard he needed a home, so a quick call and they told me to pick him up when I like. The happiest moment of my life was sitting in the horsebox staring at him for the whole 4hr journey. I just could not believe he was mine.
And weirdly enough he is the only horse I have never gave a kiss and cuddle goodbye to - I just found it too difficult :)

I had just gt my 4yr old Welsh Sec D pony on loan, and I did my first show with him. I have never been too good at showing and often didn't place well, which had always disheartened me when my friends did really well. Even though it as his first show, he did so well and we managed to come first! I know it isn't all abut the winning, but I was so elated- it was a wonderful day! :D

3 days after putting my horse out on loan for a year because I couldn't decide whether to sell him or not as he was, and still can be a handful. I realised that I loved him more than anything and would never ever sell him and that I would try my hardest at all times with him even if that meant taking years to get my confidence back to jump him :)

The day I realised Ned wanted to be my friend :)
He'd been bullied by the other horses and wasn't eating much, you could see his ribs. I felt sorry for the poor thing, but we didn't really get along for a while, since although I loved riding him, I was really scared about tacking up. He'd turn his bum on people and just be an all round b******!
Although he's not improved a whole bunch with tacking up, he doesn't really turn his bum anymore and I've learnt "the tacking up dance". He also doesn't head-butt my boob anymore XD haha!

Since I started spending time with him, he's got a lot more confidence with other horses and is now a proper weight!
I remember the day I arrived at the yard and he was looking at me. He left his food and came to say hello.

I've been a Ned addict ever since ^^ now we've both got a best friend!

With Tilly - I went out to the field to get photos of horses for xmas presents. A new pony was put out the day before and I'd been told she didn't catch and was an absolute demon. As I traipsed around the field, it took longer than it should have because this pony came over and laid her head on my shoulder and followed me like a puppy. I took her on loan before buying her :D

With Fidley - She was delivered to me and her owner had a moment of doubt about me having her as I was putting her out to a paddock and she made it clear that there was a good chance I would not catch her again. Pony wasn't handled and simply had a head collar on. I spent an hour in her paddock, watching her and just sitting.
Car doors were banging, her leg was twitching ready to take flight but she stood beside me as I scratched her neck and she spent days hanging around the gate watching everyone inquisitively.

To know that they have not had an easy start or brilliant handling, and yet they trust you and devote themselves to you, is a moment in time that I will never forget :)

My first canter on Tont after I had backed him myself :D

I'd spent months leaning over him and getting him used to having someone on him back - as he was 14! After he'd been going perfectly for a few weeks, I took him down this long bridleway for a canter. I was a bit worried that he'd go loopy, but he was as good as gold, and tried his best :D

I was very proud, I do love my boy :p
