now the weather is getting lighter i can ride after work, and now have several events coming up so got loads to get on with. what is your weekly breakdown of work at the mo?? i kinda struggiling to get out hacking at the mo as got schooling, lunging etc etc to do. we never do the same thing as we did the day before but maybe getting out a hack once a week. what bout you??

During the week I have to ride after school so I normally do 1 hacking session (short, under an hour) 2 schooling sessions, 1 jumping session.

On the weekend I go for a nice hack (over an hour) and then either rc rally, comp, lesson, xc schooling etc

When the days are even longer I will go for hack on the evening that she currently has off or mum will take her out on the morning

I'm riding after school now it's lighter so I'll do two hacks (one roadwork and one with cantering), one schooling and one jumping in the week...

At weekends I'll do one hack and one schooling...

In a couple of weeks I'll start having lessons again one day in the weekend or I'll have a rally/comp etc

I ride 4/5 times a week. 2/3 times Mon-Fri (schooling at present due to light gone by the time I get yard so have to go in floodlit school). Hack once, jumping course once.
When summer comes this will get changed to suit...

I like to keep it varied for him.

Monday - Day off
Tuesday- Lungeing/hack - hill work
Weds - Schooling flatwork
Thursday Lungeing over poles
Friday - Schooling Jumping (when Im allowed - instructor has banned me!)
Saturday - Hacking
Sunday- Lesson

Not every weeks the same but usually something like that

at the mo pretty sad as the weather here in spain is torrential rain rain rain beleive it or not, but god willing we will get some dry weather soon and hacking and natural horsemanship clinics with the fabulous Michelle Peschke, a wonder woman !!!

Looking for Michelle everywhere and I jut come back to you......uindercover name and all. Weather is a whole lot nicer now !

At the minute I have 2 lessons of 45 minutes a week and then usually hack out once (for around an hour, nearly all walk). Ideally I would like to be doing a lot more hacking but I need someone to come with me - it will be easier when I can ride out in the summer evenings.

school 3-5 x a week. flat work at nov/elem level. starting some jumping/poles but need to have good ground for it.

lunge 1-3 x week for 25mins with loads of transitions.

hacking- try to hack 1-2x week for 45mins walk work.

compete once a week usually.

At the minute I've been making the most of the nice weather and getting out for quite a few good long hacks. (I'm currently jobless so I have all day) I find that if I school my pony too many times he gets bored and doesn't work to his best. He is nearly 11 at and I have had him since he was 5 and think we are reaching the limit of what he can learn so it's just a case of keeping him ticking over and remembering what he has learnt. I tend to go on a couple of 2-3 hour hacks per week which are a mixture of road work, hill work and cantering, 1-2 shorter hacks which are mostly road work and hill work but with a short amount of cantering if we go across a bridleway and then 1-2 schooling for approx 45 mins at a time either flatwork or jumping. I like to keep him fresh with his jumping so only jump him once a fortnight on average! He has one or two days off per week and sometimes some of the work mentioned above is substituted for a Dressage or Show Jumping Competition.

Coming back from some injury problems at the moment so:
School twice a week for aroud 20 mins not including warming up and down
Long rein twice a week for about 25 mins
Hack twice a week around 45 mins

Hopefully by next month she will be fit and strong enough to add in a lesson every fortnight too.

Ride 4/5 times per week. Usually at least one turn in the school and the rest hacking. Every now and then we'll do a lesson but not too often. She and I would get seriously bored in the school more often!

ps Just curious as to why people are saying "when the nights get lighter" it's the 21st June tommorrow - isn't that the longest day??
