Wheabran vs Wheatfeed?

Why are we told nowadays that we shouldn't feed wheat bran, because the excess phosphorous in the form of phylates will block the uptake of other minerals especially calcium, yet most commercial compound feeds contain a substantial proportion of Wheatfeed?

As far as I can tell, bran contains mostly husk, and Wheatfeed is husk and endosperm. Is it simply the added endosperm that makes the difference?

You can feed bran long term if you also add calcium to offset the phosphorus. I would expect there is calcium in the feed type you are looking at. Any wheat product is basically a cheap filler. Not to say that is a bad thing - horses need bulk. I've just looked at the feed I use and both mixes have added calcium.
