What is it and is it any good for horses?
Marriages do a laminitic mix and it looks lovely, and Fat Friend loves it but it has wheatfeed in it, and I have never heard of it before. Below info bit from Marriages website:

Laminitic Mix

An attractive coarse mix of chaff, micronised cereals and pulses, lucerne pellets and added vitamins. Not only will low levels of calories, starch and sugar help in the management of laminitis, it will also reduce the stress caused by restricted access to grazing. Laminitic Mix is very high in fibre, which increases eating time, encouraging the horse or pony to eat less and helping to produce plenty of alkaline saliva to reduce the chance of stomach ulcers. The mix contains a high quality vitamin and mineral package, with added biotin to encourage development of the hoof wall. This ration is designed to help with the management of laminitis but is not medicinal and is not a substitute for other forms of husbandry or veterinary care required for this condition.

Protein: 8.0%….Oil: 2.9%….Fibre: 22.5%….Bags: 15kg

Non-heating….Estimated DE: 8.5MJ/kg

Dammit! It looks really tasty. He isn't actually laminitic but just a very good doer. I was given a bag to try so will finish that up and move on then.
Thank you.

Wheat is not a good feed in any form for horses.

Lamanitic's and good doers need a high fibre diet which they can get from late cut hay. You need to get hay that has been cut late - when the seeds have started to dry on the stalk - this type of hay is less nutritious than hay cut when the seed head has just set.

We have late cut haylage, we make our own, and he has Baileys light chaff it was just because I was given this stuff and it looked so nice! I am one of those people who thinks animal food should look inviting - not that they care!
