have been looking on ebay for a new wheel clamp or lock for my trailer, parents are buying a caravan and want theirs back, which are the best to buy, they range from 20 quid up to whatever, not sure which sort to get, any ideas very welcome

I had the bulldog clamp, it was a nightmare to get on and off but very sturdy. Saying that 2 trailers got pinched from my last yard with different types of clamps. I think you can only do your best as if they want it they will get it whatever. I was told to put the clamp on the rear tyre too.

I have a bulldog on too, it is a pest to put on. I had one that was easier to put on (it locked onto wheel nuts and was a metal stick thing) but that was broken off when the trailer was stolen. Wheel locks aren't going to stop it being stolen, but at least we get back the insurance money if they do!

We bought the top of the range wheel clamp in the shop as we had just bought a brand new Equitrek. The last trailer we had got nicked and we had a cheapo wheel clamp on it.
We bought a Nemesis wheel clamp - its supposedly its one of the harder ones to get off as it takes them longer to get it off. Its a pain in the arse to put on though - drives me mad if you dont get the first bit on in the right place and on tight enough.
Think it cost us around £100.

Thing is - if thieves want your trailer it doesnt matter how much security stuff is on it they will take it. I know someone who had their trailer picked up (by a crane type thing) and put on a flat back.
My mates trailer nearly got nicked the other day - She had a bulldog clamp on the tow bar. They had it off within seconds. Only reason they didnt take it was because they couldnt get it off the drive because of the steepness of it.

I had a bulldog one and my trailer got pinched!
Have a Breckland one now and it's very good. to fit it you have to replace a wheel nut with a high tension bolt, and the arm just slips on to it.
You can't get it off and if you try to drive off, it sticks into the ground!

It is worth having one on and I have the Bulldog one, which is recognised by most insurance companies...but in all honesty it does not stop your trailer being nicked!

thanks for all replies, we had an ifor williams nicked with 2 bulldog wheel clamps and another wheel bolt, they just wrenched it to pieces, they must of been quick at doing it as my mum was in the house at the time and didnt hear a thing, like we know it doesnt matter what we put on its just for insurance purposes really.
