Having read the post below about a trailer being stolen, I was thinking about mine. We have a wheel lock on our trailer and the hitch locks too. But if you stabbed the tyre to deflate it, would the wheel lock be able to be taken off then, as they wheel lock fits round the tyre? And with the hitch lock they would just tie the trailer up.
So really they aren't as secure as we think.
Very worried now.

I am afraid nothing will stop a determined thief! I had my trailer stolen and they cut through two heavy duty chains on my gate and then cut about 1 inch into my wheel clamp arm and got it off. They also cut right through the entire hitch lock as if it was butter even though they were both heavy duty modern locks! They even had enough time to take my hay net out of the back (they left me that!), disgard the locks further down the field in the hedge and shut my field gate after them (how very considerate)!!! Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but they won't be stopped, you can only make it sufficiently difficult that they will move onto an easier target.

My husband had that very thought while clamping my trailer for the first time. I think the hitchlock is quite secure though? I think the best security for mine is being parked on my v. nosey mother in laws drive though!

I thought that would be the case. I think I might need a GSD then, it can live on the yard with a nice old horse rug for a bed.

You can have Mother in Law if you like. Probably cheaper to feed and her vaccs are up to date.

I had a wheel clamp from Halfords.... lent my trailer to my friend for a days hunting; she forgot to tell her dad she'd left it with the clamp on, when she rang him to fetch her home, he hitched up and drove off merrily flattening the wheel clamp

Load of good that was

We always park a car in the gateway, but know full well that if they wanted it badly enough they'd only need to break the fences down and take it through the neighbouring fields....we're out in the sticks, pitch black at night, no one would know anything till morning

My trailer was stolen a few years back, they'd just taken a chisel and hammer to the hitch lock and wheel lock - made quick work of it by the looks of things! We have a better wheel lock now, but tbh its just so we get the insurance money if its stolen (again!). The only extra thing done was getting out postcode etched onto the trailer, on the chassis I think.

Go on... I won't have to make Christmas dinner for her if you have her!

Don't think hitch locks are of much use either as they just rope the trailer to a back of a van and tow it away. One a few miles away was taken like that. Farmer drove past and noticed it swaying all over the place and called the Police. They were stopped further down the road, but blokes jumped out of the van and got away!

I dread my trailer being pinched but don't think I can physically stop it as whatever you do, they can get round it.

Fix a row of safety pins covered with dog shite under the towing hitch, then when they try to lift it to hitch up to the tow bar they stab their greedy theiving fingers and immediately suck their fingers in the dark, hope they die and go to hell

If a determined thief wants to steal your trailer there is little you can do to stop him. All you can do is fit the various deterent devises & make it more difficult for him & hopefully he will decide he hasn't the time to go through all the security devices & so he decides to either go away or steal someone elses. As much as you may like other people on the yard I'm sure you would rather their trailer was taken thsan yours

Another little tip - make sure you put the wheel lock on a rear tyre. If you put it on a front tyre they can raise the front of the trailer and driveit away on the back wheels with the wheel lock still in place.
