Wheel nuts on trailers

As you lot have now got me OBSESSING that my trailer wheels are likely to fall off.

Tyres are proper trailer tyres
Trailer is serviced annually by lorry guy
Pressure checked regularly (painfully!) with specialist tyre checkers I bought.

How on earth do I check my tyre nuts? If they are tight is that sufficient?

Have also emailed Bateson to see what they say...

Oh btw as I have been researching Equitrek their advice is to check the wheel nuts every 25 miles..
 
As long as you cant get them any tighter they should be fine.

I always like a man to check the finally yank of the wheel spanner .

Have you tried putting these on the trailer ( if they fit ) you put them end to end in the pattern and if the pattern changes it shows that a wheel nut has moved or loosened .

they basically go like this round the wheel

the the points move away from each other you know the nut has moved its a safety feature

this company is very helpful and needs to know wheel nut size to get correct ones its a visible way if any nuts get loose

thank you. Enormously helpful. I actually now do not want to use my trailer until I am sure I won't have a problem..

idealy check with a torque wrench but if you get a standard wheel brace a pull on each nut or you can get a little hammer and tap them should all make the same "ting" sound if they are loose they will make a dull "thunk" sound !!! however its rare for them to come loose as the design of this type of wheel is self locking,asumiming the threads were clean and oiled and the nuts were done up properly the last time the trailer was serviced or the wheels removed , dont worry about it too much :D
