Hi guys,

OK, so we will be having our new pony on Fridayso we have lots more to buy! I never knew that wheelbarrows were so exspensive  Anyone know where we can get hold of one fairly cheap & also other tools to muck out etc?

Thanx in advance all x

Jewsons had some quality barrows for £40 a few months ago, most of the cheapies last for a year or so, and then the wheels fall off.
Brushes, try Aldi or Lidle type places for good ones, most small ethnic shops keep small brushes and shovels too.

I bought mine off Ebay and got an 120L for £40 inc postage.

Try B&Q if you just want a small, cheap barrow

I know they are expensive but i can't recommend enough The Future Fork. I've had mine for over 8 years now!!!

I'd also try B&Q for brooms or your local saddlery should have mucking out equipment

If you want to try second hand then try Preloved, Friday Ads and Gumtree...you might be lucky and someone in your area getting rid of stuff?

Get a plastic wheelbarrow. they will still be useable when a cheaper metal one has rusted out.

Unfortunately it is all quite expensive :( However, generally it does tend to last, I had to start up from scratch 5 years ago, its all been used on a daily basis and the stable tools are all still going strong.

You could always try a wanted ad in your local paper, maybe there will be someone out there who has a load of horsey stuff they want to shift...

I got my wheelbarrow from a builders merchant. I think they are about £40. As for brooms if you can find a wooden one with stiff long brushes I think these are the best, flick the muck away, I think you can get these from a builders merchant too.

One of my most hammered wheelbarrows with solid wheel (no punctures) was wilkinsons! £30

I have a forte one it is plastic and about £70 Whatever you get if its pneumatic may be worth putting slime in the wheel re punctures etc

B&Q do some nice ones(I was looking about £30+ ???? not expensive). The expensive Hammerlins are really really heavy!

Plastic shovel is good for poo picking some rubber gloves too(just garden ones) good rake if shavings or fork too.

Plastic barrows are nice and light. Thats what I would go for personally.
