I will be working full time as of June. We have one (spoilt) dog who loves to sleep all day (i know....ive filmed her out of curiosity :D )

Shes happy to have her little kong/snack ball and snooze all day.... She has the full run of the house - someone can come home at lunchtime to let her out/give her a wee etc (and a play on the garden/walk) but this would mean rushing round etc and tbh i know some days we will struggle.

Ive had a look at a couple of dog sitters, Ive requested a wee/cuddle and play on the garden only as I dont want her walked (she has lameness issues and im very concious of how much exercise she gets e.g today shes gone lame on front as she went on one and overdone it)... so rest for today.

Shes happy to sleep all day so 2 walks a day and a visitor in the middle of the day - would this be acceptable?? its only 4 days a week with work - she would be left 8-12 and 1-half 4?

Im trying to be realistic as id love to take her to work with me but as its going at the moment im going to be an hour round trip with work :(

At the moment shes never left for longer than 4 hours a couple of times a week,

p.s what sort of prices do dog sitters charge?? and what checks should be carried out??? obviously we need someone trustworthy... :)

Better that than she be in rescue. No idea of prices, but our neighbour lets our lot out for wees and cuddles them lots four times a day between 8am and 4pm on the two days a month we're both out.

I've given my friends teenage daughter a key, she comes straight from school & has peace & quiet for homework, spending money & the dog only gets left 8.30 till 3.30. Wouldn't trust him with an unknown adult letting themselves in.

I have commited the cardinal sin and work full time and I bought a puppy.

He is happy crated whilst we are out (so far!) and he's left either 9am-12pm and then 1pm to 4.30pm or 12pm to 2.30pm and 3.30pm to 5.30pm.

I do make sure that he is up at 6am so we get a good three hours together in the morning and he gets nearly an hour with me in the middle of the day, not to mention all evening with both of us. I also make sure that if we are around at meal times he gets fed when we LEAVE not when we arrive.

He's an independent little sod and by the 3rd evening of having him was happily taking himself off to bed in the living room instead of wanting to be upstairs with us!

thanks all :)

she would be fine left all day but i just feel guilty.....!!

she will get walked in a morning and night -and it would only be 4 days a week shes left (due to our shifts)

I honestly dont want a stranger coming into our house..... but can we really leave her from 8 until half 4?!!

she does sleep that at night....but...??

hence dog sitter!
