I only found out about this a few weeks ago when writing out a competition schedule - they certainly have not made any announcements about it as far as I am aware.
Unfortunately BS does make for a slightly unfortunate abbreviation...
I'd not noticed! Just had a look and the site is now totally inconsistent about the name e.g. BSJA News and BSJA Media Ambassadors. Can't imagine a new name will catch on any time soon, and I hope they've not spent money on it.
I definitely remember the new logos starting to appear on things before I moved to Australia, and that was 3 years ago. I think they're trying to remain consistent with BE and BD.

Just my opinion, which I feel entitled to as a paying BS member
This was announced a while ago. Isn't it to bring them in to line with BE & BD as they don't refer to themselves as associations or societies? I also seem to think that the name change was someting to do with the BEF . However I thought the abbreviation was to be BSJ............although BS may be considered by some to be more appropriate !!
I didn't know about this either. BS seems dumb. I guess its like when BE changed from BHTA (I think?). Maybe its cool to only have 2 letters nowadays I dont know! I'll still know of it as BSJA.
It's confirmed. Just got an e-mail and it reads: "The British Open Show Jumping Championships in April 2010 will host an exciting new showjumping competition for new members of British Showjumping (BS) joining since the 1st January 2008..."
Odd how they use to spell Show Jumping as two separate words (hence the J in BSJA), but are obviously now spelling it Showjumping so they can call it BS!
