Am doing a bit of homework on an older horse with a non-weatherbys passport but that I think has raced. Haven't had him checked for a chip yet, but if he hasn't got one it's either because he's definately not Weatherbys reg, or he's older than when he started - hence wondering when they started chipping!

Any info gratefully received!

My mare is reg with Weatherbys on their N/T register. She was born in 1999 and was microchipped. I'm sure it was around that time that they started to m/c.

He hasn't got Weatherbys passport, but then if you don't want anyone to know it was a dud ex-racer it could be 'lost' and replaced by a generic one.

Unfortunately we think he'd be 1997, so looks like he'll not have a chip, pah!! :-)

But before chipping, everything was blood tested so you might be able to find out that way, certainly who his parents were if not the actual date if mare had more than one of the same sex by same stallion.

Oooh I can see ££££ signs and the Weatherbys lab rubbing their hands with glee....!!
