Mine was as my second riding school (had an rocky experience at the first) Pip was has name an elderly skewbald cob that gave me the confiedence i needed, i spent hours caring for him, talking to him, grooming him (going under his belly to get to the other side in his small stable) I would be at the yard at the crack of dawn to fetch him up from the field, ride him bareback in a headcoller fom the field to the stable. Tack him up and wait aniouxly to see if i could ride him on the first ride. He started my horsey love...at the tender age of 8...

i first really clicked with horses when i was nine or so. i was put on a 16.2hh dutch warmblood horse who was a bit insane, but was talented at dressage and jumping (though he got even madder when jumping!) i took to him very well, even though my skinny little legs only just reached under the saddle flaps! and then my instructor put up a jump, putting it higher and higher until we reached 2 ft 5, may not seem that big, but it did to me then! from then on i was absolutely hooked, watching all the horsey things on tv i could, helping out at every oppurtinity and spending as much time with that horse that i could. sadly, i moved riding schools about a year ago, but luckily have fallen in love with another horse since. i have always loved horses, ever since i was 5 and started riding, but that was when i got obsessed! sorry for rambling, and lovely post!

When I was about two at a local riding school on a pony called Domino then my Aunt rescued a shetland called Midnight that I rode from about age 4ish

i first clicked at 6 days old.. i went to a polo match my dad was playing in and when the horses snuffled at me, i laughed and giggled!
i sat on horses well before i could walk...
my mum always says it was in my blood... and i really think it is... i never ever had an issue with horses... i used to ride 15.2hh at 4 years old, i was so at ease with them... just all came naturally to me.
she knew from the moment i made a noise when one of them snuffled me, i would ride...it was weird though, one of our madest ponies, was the most saint like horse ever when i was around... really strange!
i never clicked with a certain pony until i got my first one at 5/6... before that i had ridden lots of my dads polo ponies... although generally the quieter ones, i would just make them trot round the arena- poor things!

I has to wait until I was 30. The only way to get my wife on holiday was to include an animal some how (She doesn't like people). I went trecking near Ilfracoombe and just went from there. Sometimes I wonder how rich I would be if I had never gone!

Mine was when i was 6 years old at my riding school with a lovely grey sec a pony called prince. I learnt to ride on him, loved him to pieces he was cheeky but so sweet. I miss that little lad he gave me so much pleasure from riding.

Both my parents rode and had horses so basically we were taken down to the yard and parked from our first day at home.

When I was old enough to sit up and hang onto the front of the saddle my Dad used to put me in front of him on his Hunter Donald and we would go out for hours. From 3 years old he used to drag me everywhere on a lead rope on Morris the Shettie.

I don't actually think choice was involved at all and a love of horses just dripped in like osmosis.

I was plonked onto a small pony at the age of 3, my Uncle owned ponies and donkeys that he kept at home. After that I constantly wanted to see my Uncle so I could ride.
Then at the age of 8 I started working (I saw it as that- lol)on weekends at a local riding school to earn points to ride on a Sunday. We used to catch them and ride them to and from the field in a headcollar and canter the last bit down a muddy lane! We also used to do bareback jumping lessons which were my favourite...Gees!!! my confidence used to be sky high back then, I just don't know where it's all gone?

Ahh the stark realisation that you no longer bounce and eating dust actually hurts......a lot

I wanted to ride when I was a kid... but didn't click properly until I met a pony called Whisper.

We were a formiddable partnership! We won all the gymkana games (beating the previously unbeatable Smartie and Murphy!) and generally had a whale of a time!

When she started misbehaving, they popped me back on (even though I was a little too big) and managed to get her behaving - but then we discovered she was blind.

Broke my heart to realise that little grey welshie loved me enough to try for me, even though she couldn't see where she was going!
