I am looking to buy again in a few months and was just wondering if horse prices will have gone back up by then due to going into summer or if they might stay low due to the financial climate? What does everyone think?

What sort are you looking for, im always window shopping

15hh plus, between 4 and 8 years old, nothing too cobby, to hack (must hack sensibly alone and in company) and do unaffiliated competitions to begin with (I will have just had a baby), but to go on to do low level BE, BS and probably unaff dressage. Don't mind if mare or gelding or colour, but would love a spotty!

Not looking for at least 2-3 months though, just wondering whether I would have missed the cheap horses! Obviously I am looking for exactly the same as everyone else so they always go for a premium price, but don't mind a bit of a project as long as it is not going to completely shatter my confidence (which is apparently never the same after having a baby!)

Hopefully not yet as I am currently looking!

Would love to know how many horses sell for their advertised price as some seem quite overpriced.

Definetly not the same after a baby, for me anyway, i havent jumped since having my son, and i wont again either. Very strange, but i would still get on a horse that bucks/rears/broncs etc, but jumping is a huge no no.

What is your price range hun, (pm if you prefere)

Depends very much on what you're planning to buy! TOP quality performance and show horses haven't dropped much from what I see/here. My own youngstock are selling more slowly than I'd hope - but at very similr prices to what the same horse would have fetched two years ago. My outlook is that the cost of breeding and producing youngsters hasn't gone down - so why should the price? It means mine are selling a little more slowly than perhaps those whose owners are prepared to drop their prices BELOW cost of production - but you can only sell them once!!

The market DOES appear to be picking up a little - I've had FAR more enquiries inthe past month than I had in the four months before Christmas, and sold two horses last week for decent prices. I think once the weather improves itwill improve further.

Would like to spend as little as possible! But have a decent amount of savings that could be dipped in to, so really depends on the horse. Have been window shopping for over sized connemaras up to £6000 and some nice knabstuppers out competing for around £7000, but also for bargains around £1000!

I have seen horses advertised for months and months and their prices going down and down and they still don't sell. I know of a friend of a friend asking £4000 for a 13 year old with no comp record, schooling in no way established, and unknown breeding. Some people are living in a different world obviously.

But prices seem to automatically go up in spring and I am hoping that won't happen so much this year!

Horse prices seem to be holding up round here - £5K for all round RC type is the norm. (I think that is a lot, am I out of touch?)

I've been looking for a horse for son to bring on/compete/PC for a few months now and I think prices are ridiculous. Have a max of 3K for something 15.2hh - 16.3hh, 5yo plus and has to be broken and riding. Am an experienced home and have still been on some wild goose chases after asking all the right questions.

I'd have thought that would have bought a green horse who is put together correctly but evidently not...
