...i found out that my TB who i have a sharer for has a huge cut across his head. its about 4 inches long...not especially deep but i just know its going to scar (damn fine TB skin). apparently its a rope burn! i realise horses have accidents but how the hell do they rope burn their heads?! trying not to be mad at anyone but feel sorry for him as he has such a pretty little face!

My grey is awful at scarring

Every little nick just stays there. Not looking forward to seeing how this (pic below) looks after it's all healed/ scarred. I've been slapping Vasoline on them which seems to be helping some of the grey hairs growing back through but I'm not holding my breath!

but wouldn't rope need to be really long to actually get over his head?!! he was tied up next to yard idiot horse apparently....a horse i avoid at all costs, nice horse, no concept of personal space

Possibly a few mite bites in there aswell. They literally came up over night so he's back in overnight now the poor thing

do i get it from tackshop? he's bright bay (far left of siggy)...i actually don't mind if he gets white hair....just worried he'll end up with no hair there!
 
Yes - most of the tack shops round here stock it - its about 7 quid a bottle. Its fab I use it for all sorts - rain scald, cuts, bites, itchy bits - anything really!! Its got aloe vera and allsorts of other healing herb things in it - helps promote hair growth (I think might be comfrey) but it works!!
 
Dermagel is THE best thing ever. Apart from normal nicks and grazes, I've used it on a cut which was borderline stitch-worthy (livery horse - owner didn't want to get the vet), and it healed brilliantly - no white hair, no proud flesh, and only a small scar which you wouldn't notice unless you were looking for it.
