when is the first season?

Hi

Just bought a rescue collie that is supposed to be 4 mths old (I think nearly 6 as large girl) just wondering when the first season normally is as always had dogs before? Thanks for any help.

Star dog has got hers at the moment and she's about 14 months.

Any time from 6 months +

It varies wildly. We have Siberian Huskies...ours have varied from 4 1/2 months to 18 months.

Yep....more commonly 6 months however not uncommon for larger breeds to start earlier.

Most bitches can have seasons around the 6 months mark then every 6 months after that. Some can be 8 months.

Am getting worried now, I have got two foxhound puppies, nearly 8 months now. Must start staring at her rear end - might not be very popular if she goes back pregnant!
