Can things get any worse than this?

The background to this is that Rusky has been having some weird ataxic symptoms and has been backwards and forwards to the vets six times now only to conclude that if it is not EPMS then it's some kind of compression of the spine they can do nothing about and he should be retired until he can't even walk in the field anymore. So I'm feeding him oil for six months and keeping my fingers crossed.

Meanwhile Cakey had a possible viral laminitis attack 10 days ago so he is in a tiny pen on hay trying to recover. To add some more stress my groom was off sick for two weeks so Friday was the first time I sat on Freddy in ages in preparation for our competition on the 27th (one of only two competitions in our area in the whole year!).

With me so far, doesn't look good does it?

So OH breaks his tooth yesterday morning and is off to the emergency dentist in a lot of pain and I take MiniBoo with me to check on the horses. Sod's law Cakey had broken through his pen and instead of breaking back into the field with Rusky he was loose in the park eating the juciest grass possible, while Freddy had immobilised himself with a hind leg caught in his rug!

Here I am then, toddler on one hand, loose horse gorging itself in the park to the left and stupid horse having crippled itself in the field to the right.

I ended up having to get one of the builders to hold on to MiniBoo while I run around sorting everyone out. Predictably Freddy's leg is all swollen up the exact same injury he did to his tendon last year in exactly the same way (he missed last year's show), so now I am waiting for the swelling to go down so the vet can ultrasound and tell me the damage.

So to summarize this epic post:
- Rusky: can't be ridden due to neuro problems
- Cakey: can't be ridden due to lami
- Freddy: can't be ridden due to tendon injury

Three out of three, must be some kind of record?
