...which way do you prefer to affix the lunge line to the horse?

Random I know but I've never thought about it before and was wondering

I'd say it depends on what the rider is trying to achieve/ their ability. Mostly you either see the lunge line passed through the bit ring, over the head and then clipped onto the bit on the other side, or use a cavesson to attach the line to. The first option would suit a strong horse better, though would interfere if the rider wanted to have a rein contact. But generally when lunging a rider it is to work on position rather than contact. If the horse had side reins on (which technically they should when carrying a rider), then I'd lunge off a cavesson.

Always on the cavesson (or that's the BHS way anyway!)

And to be correct you should have side reins on too.

i had no idea that was BHS way. oh dear - not good, am meant to b taking my ponyclub b-test this year!

i attach the lunge reign to bit, and through to other side on the ponies and to cavesson on the horses, but thats because i dont have a cavesson small enough for ponies.
and i use a halter on my mare, as she is so light. thats if anyone is on her or not. so yeah, it depends on the horse.
for starting/training to go on the lunge i use the halter too. how does everyone else start on the lunge?
