If your horse has had ehv 4 in the past?

The conversation came up with a friend as she is looking to move yards but last year her horse had ehv 4. No idea how he got it and none of the others on the yard got it. They were in a grass livery paddock together so wasn't isolated as no where to move him to as no stables.

Vet had said at the time if they tested every horse on yard on a handful of them would come up as positive.

Is this something that needs to to be declared?

And on a side note would you declare if your horse had strangles in the past?

Its a question thats stumped me.

Is the horse now testing clear? If so there's nothing to declare. If it's testing positive then it should definitely be declared.

If she tested clear then I'd imagine what she's carrying is the antibodies that would protect her from further infection, these won't infect others. Maybe best to check with a vet though.

They are going to speak to the vet this week.

One local yard refuses anyone on the yard if their horse has had this, strangles, flu etc. Even if they have antibodies. They have each horses vet history before they come.

So we were curious to see if its something that should be declared or not.

That’s crazy logic. Take covid why would you refuse to interact with a person who had covid last month but is now testing negative.
