Ok, if youve got a few people wanting to come and see your horse when it is for sale, do you put the others off until the first person has made a decision, or do you let everyone view and see who gets back to you first?!
Let everyone view, and whoever you feel is most suitable to have him. But if you put others off, the first to view may not want to buy, and by the time they make a decision the other potential viewers have gone to look elsewhere.
when i look at a horse and somone says 'oh if you want it youd better put a deposit down or be quick as ive got someone looking at it today..' I think they are trying pull the wool over me eyes.

I think there are wasy of putting things across which clearly indicate you are being honest, and not trying to pull the wool over anyone's eyes.
I just tell people that there are other interested parties coming ***** and if they do decide that they want him could they please let me know by 8pm the previous evening to the next arranged viewing so I have time to contact the other party, but I stress that there is no pressure on them at all.
I think its just a case of letting prospective buyers know that someone is coming to view the horse before them. Also leave enough time between viewings so that you can let them a prospective buyer know that a previous viewer has put a deposit on the horse (so they dont waste XX hours travelling to see him only to find that he is sold when they get there).
Its a bit of a juggling act to be honest, but great to have the problem in a way! Good luck! Its not the lovely coloured in your siggy is it??
Line them all up, make sure you have mobile numbers, explain on phone when booking you have lots of people coming. Only a cash deposit secures, otherwise allow all to view!
I personally would let them all come, and explain to them that there are other viewers. I would also state that I would be awaiting decisions from all / both viewers and that since a good suitable home for my horse was my top priority, my decision would not be made on a first deposit secures basis.
I would explain that once I knew the interest and decisions from both/all parties I would then be making my decisions and would promise to let viewers know one way or the other.
If people are looking on both Saturday and Sunday then ask for their decisions by 8pm Monday evening (they may have others to view too) then tell them that you will let them know by 8pm the following day. This gives everyone enough time to ensure the right decision is being made (that being said, if the viewer you think would be suitable makes a good offer, you could tell them there and then when they ring you up)
Also factor in visiting your horses potential new home, if you feel it is important to you.
Id let them all view and then choose who I want him to go to! I dont go by "first come, first served" as they may well not be suitable. That's fine if selling a car but my horses are a tad more important than that!
I had numerous phone calls for our cob mare who was a pc allrounder. We told all that called that it was all about the home (not the price, because it was) and said we would be vetting new owners before making our decision. As it was we stopped after two because we found two really nice homes but then had to make the tough decision of which one, we were offered more by one owner but it was not about the money so we stuck at our price. She is in a fantastic home and they have kept in touch. Personally I really worry about where my next horse is going to so I did not take a deposit from the first interested party.
I agree with the posters above, it's about the best home that you can find. I've thankfully only sold one horse but the new owner is fantastic, she's given her the best possible home ( better than I could afford!!) loves her to bits and has kept in touch for the last 2 1/2 years. It has given me so much peace of mind but perhaps I'm a sap!!!
