When to change from puppy to adult food?

Rosie is coming up to 20 weeks old so nearly 5 months, she is on Burns mini bites at the moment with a small amount of Burns moist food (1/3 of a pouch per day) as she found dry biscuits boring. Her bag of mini bites are coming to an end probably within the next week, so do I buy more just to tide her over to 6 months or can she go on adult food? I want to keep her on Burns as she looks fantastic on it, can anybody recommend any of their adult range for when she does go on it as they have a fair few varieties...

Oh and here's a photo of her living the dream yesterday... she is still quite small even for a Sprocker but people are saying that she's growing...

Shes still a puppy so therefore puppy food. Why don't you ring burns and ask whats the next step they might have a inbetween food?

Dylan puppy was on raw at her age and still on 3/4 meals a day.

My lab puppy is just bit older than yours, he will be staying on his puppy food until 9-12months as he is still a puppy until then!!x

Yes could ring Burns didn't think of that... I know she's still a puppy till 12mths but the bag states suitable until 6mths hence my question

I would not have used the mini bites as to me they are very low in protein & oil (21%protein/11% oil) for a puppy food and would have used canine extra at 24/12 instead.
If she is an active puppy change to this and she can stay on it forever.

Thanks s4sugar I'll look into that one... like I said I'd like to stay on Burns foods so they look good. She is very active, lives on a farm and a typical spaniel in terms of energy.

We only fed mini bites as this is what the breeder fed and she seemed happy enough on them until she got bored and we introduced the small amount of moist burns food to make it more interesting.

Puppy food is utterly unnecessary. Put her on whatever suits the budget and is nice.

Theres not much difference between puppy and adult food. "Puppy" food is a newer thing to increase the market and charge more £ for it. Also for some of the larger breeds the % of protein in some brands can be too high for the rate of growth. Once the last bag of puppy food runs out (around 5-6months on average) we switch to adult food.

From the burns range I've found the following Chicken, Lamb, Fish, Duck all in brown rice to be quite good dog food.

I personally steer clear of foods which contain maize as I have found spaniels and their crosses (amongst other breeds) can be sensitive/intolerant to it, I know a few which have ears problems triggered by maize too.

This ^^^ most puppy food has really high protein levels - resulting in hyperactive puppies! I had my JRT on adult food by 5 months, and she has more than thrived!!
