When do you think I should start jumping my three year old filly? Some of my friends have jumped three year olds before but I feel this is to soon as she has quite bony/skinny legs? What are your thoughts on age to start jumping I was thinking four at the earliest x

If you mean jump, like have a full session of jumping then no.

If you mean jump, by popping the Horse over a small jump on the lunge then yes that should be fine.

It really does depend on the Horse though, but most 3 YO should be able to manage a small jump on lunge. However I wouldn't be doing it more then once in 2 weeks, but thats just me.

I popped my horse over a small fence on a few occasions when she was three, she also went round the farm ride at Somerford and popped two or three of the smallest fences... she was fine with it and seemed to love it :)

i wouldn't jump on a regular basis and nothing huge but have popped my three year old over a couple of small x-c fences when we went as company for some friends :) she was the bet behaved and didn't stop at anything, if your planning on teaching your filly to jump make sure your confident because you don't want to teach her to stop or run out! i don't jump her on the lunge as she doesn't lunge and probably wont jump her again until next year after she's had a bit of a break, but only you know what your filly is capeable of and you will be the best judge at the end of it!
