My lovely five month old jrt Humbug is still suffering. I have posted previously about his problems - initially it was a suspected fractured skull, they then x ray and further tests revealed a large abcess above his left eye. This was operated on under general then had to be further sedated a few days later to reopened the wound when it refilled. He had been on anti biotics and metacan for a week after surgery and all seemed well.
Yesterday I felt something wasn't right - he was again shying away from the hand when you went to stroke him and eye seemed a tiny bit bulbous so took him back to vets. Vet now thinks he may have a deep seated abcess behind the eye. She believes this could have tracked up last time causing the higher abcess. Anyway he is again on anti biotics, metacam and eye drops. Outwardly if you looked at him you would not notice anything wrong, he is full of energy and fun and eats well. He is just very sensitive around the eye.
Vet has suggested if this does not settle by weekend he is to be referred to animals health tryst in Newmarket for MRI scan. Does anyone have any experience or idea of cost for scans? I am aware I am now potentially looking at thousands rather than hundreds. He is insured but was only for a thousand a year and we are at five hundred already.
He will have whatever he needs without a seconds doubt but would be useful to know if anyone else has been through this what it cost.
Feel so bad for my gorgeous little boy. Apologies for the ridiculously long post just feeling very sad :-(
