when will you start bringing your horses in at night?

Ours came in in mid-November last year and am hoping for at least the same time this year. Does depend on weather and how wet the fields are getting. Will leave out with rugs on first, then bring in.

One of my boys absolutely loves fireworks

Stands in the field mesmerised by them and if he's in his stable he rushes to his door when he hears the bangs and looks out to try and see them. New Years Day he was decidely grumpy and we realised he was probably tired cos he'd been up all night watching the fireworks!

I am so jealous of this post! My poor horse has to be in at night all year round

Can't you change to a different yard?

Mine will be in from 1st oct, yard rules. Although I normally find she wants to come in over night at this time of year. She has already started growing a decent coat and I have started popping a rug on overnight last few nights.

Why would you? Mine stay out all year round. I really don't understand this "in at night" rubbish. Its such a traditional view! If the weather is terrible one night then fine but ANY horse can live out permanently, no matter what breed or what level they compete at. All it does is stress the horse out, give you more work to do and make you spend more on bedding!
