Just a happy post- despite my love of hunting, most of my horses and ponies over the years have been complete horrors to hunt, however I've just had the most lovely day out today on my little mare. Been cubbing twice this season and today was her first proper day out and she was fabulous. Polite, jumped everything, ears pricked the whole day!

Doesn't it make a difference?! My last cob was a bit of a bucker, and not always reliable into a jump - I loved him to bits but could never totally relax and enjoy the day.

However my new cob is amazing - polite, jumps everything and just generally a pleasure to ride, and makes the whole day so much more fun.

Hope you get to go out again soon x

So nice to be out on a horse you can relax on ! My horse is good fun to hunt, but his brain flies out the window when jumping and his legs go everywhere so it can be a bit hit and miss! My new youngster is really calm and I cantered in the middle of the hunt the field, on the phone , on the buckle of the reins on his first meet. Glad you had a good day!

I was more surprised than anybody when I took my mare. She's a bit of a prat usually but was the epitome of manners even though her companions were whirling dervishes. They used her as a bump stop and I had a ball while my friends vowed never to return!

Good luck having fun with your mare, I'd like to go again but will have to go alone next time.
