Ok, so I've seen plenty of photos of me riding and mostly they look ok, or look like they've simply caught me "in the wrong moment in time" and so I look a bit iffy. I've not really seen me ride on video for about eight or ten years, and back then I was typically novice and nervous. I feel I've come a long way since then (heck, even my instructor has started praising me and telling me I'm finally learning how to ride - and she VERY rarely praises anyone for anything!) and from the feel I get when I'm on top, and the glimpses I get in the school mirrors, I'm half decent.
However... my lovely boyfriend consented to video me recently. This started with a couple of short clips of me riding my instructor's Lusitano stallion, in which I expected to look rubbish as I was terrified of ruining him as he's far too nice for me to ride, really
I think the boyfriend just wanted me to show off a bit so he could show his friends what I do for a hobby, so I attempted a bit of rudimentary piaffe (horse is fairly push-button to get some bouncing steps out of!) and he was happy
So today he videoed me riding my "usual" lesson horse, Odin. This was more of a video for me, to see what I'm doing right and wrong. Now I know I'm critical about my own riding (I tend to be very harsh on myself for everything) but HOW is it possible for what I feel is half decent at the time, to look like me riding round on a seaside donkey (no offence to Odin!)?! My inside rein is far too cautious, my right leg just won't stay still, and certainly won't stay back when put there, and every time I feel like we're doing some proper leg yield it just looks like Odin is wafting about the school
What happened between the school and the video?!
Anyone else, or is it just me?
