the black welsh D I have been working with at work since before xmas was sold yesterday.

A group came to view him for the lady (who was obv also there), one of them was the YO, her husband and I think the YO's husband.

He was a show horse and basiclaly knew how to show, and hack (and was 100% in all ways)
He was an incredibly special horse to me he was just so loving and fun to be around and ride.

The lady was SO nice and pleasent and really took to him from the word go, and they are a really keen show home based on Devon moors.
I was like WOW couldn't ask for a better home for him!! (and I cudnt even dislike the lady for taking him from me as she was just so nice!! GAH!)

I was welling up as we put his brand new travel gear on she had brought with her, but managed to hold myself together (just!

)
and then as she left with him in the back of the trailer, he looked over his shoulder back up the yard track and winnied and I just burst into tears (only briefly but I shocked myself that I was that bothered!)

Does anyone else get this emotional/upset/anything about selling either their horse or a horse they have worked with and spent alot of time with??

i sobbed my heart out when i sold my mare. she was my first pony and i spent hours and ££££ sorting out behavioural problems. reason i sold her was i cud not crack her main prob, rearing if hacking alone. and i wanted a horse to hack alone. anyway, i sobbed as she left. went home for a cuppa, 2 hours later my new boy arrived, which then made me cry with joy!!! so an emotional day allround!! i'm the same with my customers dogs (i'm a dog groomer), if they ring to say they've been pts or are poorly :-(

I've cried over 2 of them and it surprised me both times. I've also been surprised when I haven't been emotional - you just don't seem to able to tell how you're going to feel once they're loaded up and driven away.......

Hey, i cried buckets when our black sec c went ON LOAN!!! How soppy is that?

Funny enough i have just bought a black sec D, not yours though, this ones a baby.

I would love it if she was on here and could keep me updated on him as I know he has such a good future ahead of him with her!

Im glad im not just a soppy bugger!

I sell a lot and i still get a bit teary when some of them go! It's normally only the ones I've had the longest or that are a bit special, normally those I've broken in as babies and produced on, and I am very very picky about who any of these go to! It's always easier when you know the new owner will keep you updated from time to time and that they are going to really do what they love doing best in their new home.

He isnt even my horse I was just bringing him back into work etc
so I am absolutely terrified if I ever had to sell mine (when I get one for my graduation) which is why I am so sure I am going to have to get my horse for life when I get him (yes it has to be a boy, mares and me do not get on!!! crazyness!)

If this cob had jumped well I would have tried to persuade my mum to let me get him now!! Gah!
I want him back! (but also want him to stay with her as its just IDEAL for him)

C_B - ha! right you can come and take all my mares!!!

I hate not being "mum" as I used to be the only person to ride/deal with him so on the yard I was like his "mum" and I am like

my boy has gone!

I could never sell one of mine, way too attached. When I've had problems riding them I have managed to find people to school them rather than sell them on.....I even got upset sending one away to schooling livery and my OH thought I was completely bonkers when I got all tearful dropping him off at trainers yard...it was only for 3 weeks!!

I find it unsuprising really as to sell the horse you have to identify all their best bits etc and show how fab they can be

and then I find you are just like WHY AM I DOING THIS?!?!
