Took baby cob cross out to dressage this weekend. On a whim really, had a go at home at the test one of my older ones was doing and he did ok (and seemed to enjoy it), so thought it would be a good experience. He warmed up like a pro and felt SO much like my retired dressage mare did at his age. Similar baby stuff, same attitude.
Then he went into the arena and just lit up. Not once did he put his head up to look around, and all his spooking at the boards was within the movements (we just had wobbly circles!). I've not had a horse to ride who liked dressage since my old mare retired, and it is my favourite discipline. It's no fun on a horse who doesn't want to though, so I haven't done any for years (our horses are pets, so I kind of do what they like, and we still have a good time!). He came out all buzzy and happy, and it was so lovely to have a partner in crime once again.
Any other nice stories anyone?
