am i searching for the impossible ?
14.2hh ish quiet calm and safe for a novice ?
older horse no prob.
tried horsemart etc but asking silly money !!
anyone on here hiding one ?!!!!!!!

No, not the impossible, but the good ones (that really are as described) fetch serious money and people are always prepared to pay a premium for them. A lot will be sold by word of mouth of course ...

I'm hiding a star! But only just brought her....wouldn't say she's a novice (quite looky on hacks and is a coiled spring when jumping) but I love her!

Trouble is there are thousands of people looking for exactly this type of pony, so prices have stayed quite high, especially if animal is sound, in full work and with no quirks or problems. You can find a bargain however, if you can accept a horse with a problem (cribbing, sweet-itch, fused spavin etc), one that has been out of work for a while or one that has just been badly advertised (in which case you might have to view a lot of unsuitable animals before you find the perfect one)!

Ooops you wont like me much then as I have 14.3hh bombproof horse ridden by babies to novice adults and he is amazing but I wouldnt sell him for all the money in the world. Good luck with your search = I am sure there are many more coming up for sale due to the credit crunch.

I'm looking for a 14.2hh as well!!

But i want a competition/PC pony... there must be one out there somewhere!! hehe

I have a 14.1 that loose jumps 1.20.
He is a quiet coloured pony but needs a lot more on the flat.
With 1 months flatwork he will be ready.
He is similar to this one.

vices eg cribbing ,weaving etc no problem,
just safe to handle /ride
cant share we have 4 horses of our own and own yard,
i have exactly what i want but in a 15.2hh , but need a 14.2hh version for my daughter and me to share,
i even advertised my lovely mare on horsemart for sale or swap for 14.2hh, in the hope some child had outgrown their pony and wanting a horse.
ive had a lovely family view myne and shes being vetted tues.
my absolute max is £1800 same as wat i want for myne.
so is that realistic ?

I recently bought a 14.1/14.2 5 year old who is safe because he's a bit slower, lovely little pony can be slightly nappy but done quite a bit. I had been looking for over a year and a bit and finally got him, he's the coloured on the left of my sig. I didn't expect to get a sane younger pony but they are out there!

I do have a 14.3hh I want to share out/loan from our yard but she's more a jump pony as loves it, can be quick and she's slightly quirky (in the sense of needs a confident rider not a naughty pony) and I like my flatwork, she's not a novice ride though

id happily have an older pony :}
not sure on a youngster as i said safety is my first concern
for my daughter who is very nervous after a fall :{
thanks guys keep looking for me

Like rocking horse poo I'm afraid! For that money, I'd get a really sensible 3/4 yr old or an oldie. You've got no chance of finding the pony that everyone else is basically looking for for that money - well, it's 1 in a million, so you might but it's a long shot!

I have one for sale but nowhere near that budget Im afraid he is £4,500 havent yet advertised him as we are having so much fun with him.

14.2 sell very very well and easily, and a good safe, do anything snaffle mouthed competition ponies do fetch the money still Im afraid. Could you go a little bigger say 15hh then you seem to get into a cheaper market.

Hmm I'm a nervous rider occasionally, I used to knock the younger horses, but if they are slow its not so bad! Just have to keep your eyes open and hope something comes along

Hope you find the right one!

be pointless going to 15hh.
as we might as well keep our saint of a 15.2hh then !!
just heard so much about credit crunch etc.
maybe i underpriced our mare ?
but home was more important to us.
never mind ill keep looking !!

I paid £2500 with tack and rugs for my little mare (rambo/thermatex rugs and a decent saddle) BUT she has been known to be handy with her back legs although I've never seen that - think she just needed someone to bond with.

Give her 6 months and she'll probably be worth double that - she's hunted with a 10 year old, SJ and is well schooled (although rusty).

They are worth their weight in gold.
