So - where are all the drivers on HHO? Make yourselves known!! haha!

I'm going to pick up my new boy for the season - 5 yo grey connemara... I've got it on good authority that I've "got a good one" there... he's got the cute factor anyway, can't wait for the driving season to start, our first HDT was cancelled this weekend!

Peek a boo! There's quite a few of us on here, Rara is our lil superstar though, miss I represent at the junior europeans! lol

I just work with carriage horses and have done for the last 9 years but when I'm finished uni I'm going to get my own, probs a heavy, and have a go at everything!

Rara...hmmm. I can't wait to meet her...

Maybe at UK Juniors this Sept! ;-)

We've gotta see how my boy pans out for the summer, but it sounds like a good idea... high hopes, low expectations!!

I'm new to this game, worked for a carriage driver in the USA in 2007, and drove for a lady in Canada this past year, but I'm home in Ireland now, and its time to pick up reins again!!

A heavy? Connemara's are the way forward!! Do you do HDTs??

xxx

I do have a soft spot for connies I must admit as I learnt to ride on one called Rob, a real saint. But it has to be a heavy for me, or a heavy cross at least. I'm a tad chunky myself and I want the ultimate alrounder, ride astride and aside, drive in all formations.... etc

I don't do HDT unfortunatly as I don't have the horsepower. The boys I work with are comercial horses on a National Trust property so we're pretty busy and we don't have our own transport although about 10 years ago we had our own HDT every year... shame we don't still do it really. My headcoachwoman has a baby which she hopes to bring out HDT next season and I've already been told I'm backstepping! lol

Some pics of our boys can be found here

Wow - what a job! I'm jealous! Want to swap for a history/politics degree? Mind you, you'd have to live with my parents, and drive my rust bucket? (not to mention shovelling Sh!t up after my 3 monsters!! haha!)

Are you thinking of coming over for the Chanel cup? Or Junior Nationals in Escirck?

Got my first driving pony since I was a child being broken by Rowena Moyse as I write. Can't wait to have her home and start pottering about the lanes. Bought her as a prospective brood mare for the stud at Fayre Oaks last year but she was just so sensible I thought we would have a bit of fun together instead.

Rara, I just was on the BHDTA website... and to be honest, I'm not sure if we're sending a team for the Channel Cup... (or that I would make it!!) What class are you in? (I'm in the Club class - golden oldie I am!! haha!)

I have a bit of a dilemma tonight though - I had previously agreed to take on this 5yo grey connemara... and tonight his owners called and also offered me a 6yo(with a season and a half's experience).

I now don't know what to talk... I'm veering toward the older boy, as I only have him for the season, so I would have a better chance of success/making teams for Channel cup and Escrick... I would imagine I'll be at Escrick in SOME capacity anyway!!

Headed down to Meath this weekend, hopefully we don't get rained off - first 2 DE!

Tinawales - good luck with the new/old pony!!

*Waves HI to everyone else!!*

I don't usually go to escrick- I can't get transport

I vote the older pony

The chanel cup isn't a full marathon so you should do it
tongue.gif
Im the very oldest year in the normal classes, not sure yet if I'll go single or pair, assuming I'm even allowed to drive pair

Can you not just enter and go the Chanel Cup/Escrick, thats what we do for these
tongue.gif
I think you need to have done 2 or 3 events to do escrick, or have been assesed by an instructor for Esrick, but you will be fine

Oh, I think you CAN just enter, but I wouldn't want to go ruffling feathers in the club if you know what I mean!!

I doubt we'll do the Channel cup then, if it's not full marathon... It's a long way/VERY expensive!!

Hey i'm a driver too, have a 20 year old who used to do nationals and just about to buy myself a nice 4wheeler to do club events with.
Was at Dalmeny castle driving trials at the weekend, at Eglington next Sunday and then Hopetoun at the end of May with friends who have a single pony and a horse pair.

Hey everyone!!
I just went to drive another potential pony tonight - and it's official!!
*Welcome to the team Topper!* (14.2, dark bay 5yo Welsh Sec D.)

Rara - I also spoke to the owner of my new pony - his daughter drives Escrick every year... and by the sounds of it, I'll be expected to do Escrick, and possibly the Cross Channel Cup too, if they decide to send us...
