I noticed that the Free Horses to Good Homes Thread is gone :(

I do understand that there were many issues there regarding welfare etc but it is a pity....it was quite a thread!

hmmmm, thats odd

It was here this morning, and had a nice update on what was happening :(

If anything, I would have thought it would have got pulled in the first few pages, not after things looked like they were on the way to getting resolved

Welfare agencies had taken an interest in the matter so may have been pulled due to this perhaps?

I agree, that was the best conclusion I could come to

Oh well, now the wheels are in motion, as it were, I hope it all starts to get sorted as it appears this intervention was well overdue

I came home after a 24 hour shift and it had gone, so I missed the update too. :(

I was thinking of that thread when I watched the little video oh HHO getting that award. The presenter said this forum had, "the widest variety of chat conversations" of any entrants. :D Most of the wide variety were covered on that thread!

It had genuine equine welfare concerns, mixed with many other topics, plus conflict, humour and a bit of sleaze!:D:D

Without being personal, and I don't want an answer, but I hope it's well bleddy paid too!

Sadly the care of the most vulnerable members of our society (the elderly, young children and severely disabled adults) has never been well paid.

But best not to get me started on that. :p

Now you mention it, a close friend does just that, also on silly hours. She has stated the way things are (hours, pay, fuel costs to and from etc) she believes she's better off not working, even with a mortgage :o

When I used to work in residential chld care many years ago, we used to go to work on Saturday at 3pm and not leave again tlll 3pm on Monday, that was usually in a run of ten days without a day off  We then got 4 days off together before going back to do another 24 hour shift. I only lasted doing those hours for five years.

I can imagine that could be true, depending on who your employer is and what your circumstances are. I work for the local authority, whose pay & conditions are a bit better than some of the private companies and agencies.

A lot of people would think my pay's rubbish, but actually, here I am making ends meet and keeping a horse so I don't really feel I have the right to complain too much! Plus, for the most part I enjoy my job so I'm quite a happy bunny.

Happy bunny hopping off to bed now. :o:p

Night all.
