We have been looking for a while now for a traditional gypsy cob to hopefully show next summer and we cant seem to find anything over 14.2hh, not fussed on age and if its broken or not.

Does anyone know of any dealers or cobs for sale?

Sorry forgot to say preferably in Scotland!

Thanks :)

I have a heavyweight 14.3 and had to search high and low too. I'm pretty sure there were hundreds being advertised, right up until I started looking properly! I found mine on Preloved, of all places. A lucky find I think because she's a nice stamp, shape and size so it is worth looking in places you wouldn't normally go to, particularly if you are prepared to break/ bring on, etc.

Might be the same dealer as AnnieB suggests, but Garswood Gypsy Cobs in Blackburn. A friend of mine bought from them and was very happy, and I tried one but then decided I wasn't ready for horse ownership at the time so got a loan instead.

A true trad is meant to be smaller so it's hard to find much over 14.2hh tbh that'll be suitable for the showring as they tend to breed them smaller. Friend request Janey Down on Facebook, the Down family run/own SD Cobs and have some absolute crackers (imo) to make 15hh - all unbroken youngsters and a bit rough and ready, but what you see is what you get. They know their cobs and Janey is very nice to deal with.

Pentrusco Traditional Cobs in Wales have two absolutely stunning foals for sale atm. Should make 14.3 to 15hh I reckon, fab bloodlines. Will be top dollar but certain to be successful in the ring and great quality.

Sue-Helen Shuttleworth is another definitely worth contacting, some fab cobs there. And I believe Kimico stud have a couple of nice youngsters for sale I think.
