Hello there

I am going to have a spare stable and spare time this winter as my mare is in foal (due may) so I was considering getting myself a project. I'm experienced in retraining so not bothered if unhanded, nervous etc but I can not seem to find anything. Where is everyone else looking?

Hmm in my experience they find you....even when you're not looking....and even when you say "oh he/she is lovely but I really don't need another horse"

However, if you are actually looking then Horsequest's < £1,000 would be worth a look IMO. I drool over some of the ponies on there most lunch times! Or preloved seems to be the choice of place to advertise the sort of horse that someone has bought without realising how much work/money you need to keep an animal and now needs to offload pdq...

You're in a neighbouring county to me and there are stacks of horses/ponies going for £100-£400 about 30 mins from where I am. A friend picked up a mini shetland last week. She said there were a stack of equines there and they are all for sale. What type of thing are you looking for? I can always get a phone number for you.

I quite like the idea of a nice youngter to break or a safe kids pony who needs some tlc, wouldn't mind it being an older pony. Think I've got more chance at the former.

Give me a reminder tomorrow and I will get the number for you. They are all in Soham - which is close to Ely (Cambs). Worth a call and a look and from what my friend said there should be something to suit you. She has a smashing 3yr old New Forest filly from there.

Got a nice 2 1/2 year old Cob x Welsh D for sale! He's still entire though can be gelded. Think he's only up for £650 gelded or £550 as he is. He's a lovely chunky handsome lad and very quiet, halter broke and been bitted up/lunged lightly - he just needs the work put into him now!
He'll make around 14.1hh, as is 13.2/13.3hh at present. Very chunky chap though, will be a childs or small adult type pony.

Pics from earlier this summer, he's really chunked up now and has a lot more muscle/condition on him and shot up in height.

At the sales.

I bought 2 registered NF fillies at Beaulieu Road on 20 October. One cost 35 guineas, the other 25 guineas - total cost £70.35. :( They are not scratty rubbish either. Some Colt foals were not even making minimum bid of 10 guineas. :( A couple of years ago those fillies would have been making a minimum of 200 guineas each.

I believe the situation is the same at all pony sales.

I've got a little rascal who needs a new home. Blue roan w/black points, welsh b (show pony type). Backed by previous owners, needs re-starting as has been in the field for a year.

Not advertised as I don't really want to get rid, but I lost my small jockey :(

It'd be great if someone here was interested in him so I could keep in touch/informed.

But yeah, project horses, dragon driving, preloved. Best places to look, lots of cobs/welshies & trotters on DD.
