..when a non clueless person seeks advice about anything?

I've posted several things since I've had my boy down here with me, with little to no advice given. OK I'm not an idiot, but found the forum very unhelpful.

Maybe it's just me who's unpopular, but if you all think you are such smart arses maybe give me some advice rather than telling showjumpwhatever what she's doing wrong OVER and over again.

This is not a post to highlight mine, but I'm something a lot of people are thinking.

Sorry, haven't seen your posts Starbucks, it all moves to quickly for me...
What do you need advice on? I will try to help, although I'm not sure if I'm clever enough... In case I'm not, try asking mrsdickinson, she seems to know everything about everything;)

Oh well TB, we'll be unpopular together! :)

If it's not that, it's because people on here know bugger all like the rest of us.

Aww, you beat me to it!

I haven't either, apart from the last one (which I've just gone to read because of this one) and the question is too vague. Sometimes, I cannot be bothered to ask for all of the information needed to come to a conclusion. I don't know your horse, how good a doer he is, what you're currently feeding him, or how he works. From what I can see he's not a bad weight and if he was working correctly he'd actually develop topline... but then I believe someone already suggested that and you argued with them.

Not such a know it all, but maybe if your other posts are in the same tone, that might be a bit of clue perhaps :)

Ok I'm such a know it all. I know it all - hence why I'm asking for advice.

I can ride and know how to look after my horse responsibly. All a bit too boring for NL! No one to bully!

In defence of those who post in NL regularly, I did get some great direction on which insurance company to go for recently. And it is a much busier part than SB which means constantly trying to keep track of threads.

There are some in this particular part of the forum that seem to have a bit of an attitude problem though. Probably best ignored in some cases .

No doubt, once I have the mare back off loan I shall be asking numpty questions aplenty :o :p  :D.

Starbucks, I do try not to judge people based on how their posts come across - yours do appear to be defensive most of the time, if you're interested (e.g. you ask for advice and if the advice given isn't exactly what you wanted, you argue with it)

However, having seen you on the hunting field (you have no idea who I am :) ) you do appear a little above yourself sometimes and it's generally why I avoid replying to your posts on here.

Purely being honest - sorry.

Also, have you considered that it's safer if people stick to giving advice in areas they have real life experience in, rather than replying to every topic simply to try to score points over other users?

Well, you see, Starbucks, I have seen your last thread now and will tell you what I think, although you won't agree with me probably:
the horse is a bit of a fatty, it doesn't need extra feed, it needs work. In order to build up the muscle/topline, I would work it long and low and maybe throw in some polework to tuck the tummy in a bit; also swap the fast hacks for longer, slower ones - good striding out walk over some hilly bits and a bit of slowish trot.

Haven't seen your posts btw, but if you think people know nothing why ask them?

I don't think people know nothing - I guess the thing that annoys me is that people on here really do try to give, give and give some more to people who are maybe just begining, maybe genuine in there non horseiness, they are ready to be bloody horrible to them!

But anyone with a normal horsey question... errrrm maybe everyone doesn't know so much?

Thanks.. your horses look the same shape as mine though?

But maybe they don't answer your questions because of the tone of the posts and the answers? I am not aware of bullying anyone on the forum, but earlier in the thread that was the implication of your answer, so I doubt very much if I shall bother wasting my time in future.

That's nice.

Can you tell me why? Love get slated by someone when I don't know who they are!! :)

That wasn't slating...

You're a little... bossy. And I feel like any advice given on here would fall upon deaf ears. I'm not suggesting you're a cow, I'm explaining why I am not comfortable in replying to your posts. Perhaps others are made to feel the same by your defensive stance.

As for BSJAShowjumper123, who you used as an example... I think that's actually a welfare concern by now!

When have I been bossy??? Please tell me because it's really bothering me!

Well, I'm afraid you come across as a bit attention-seeking to me and are usually giving up because you are broke and selling one or other of the horses, though I guess that hasn't happened yet. Is this one Badger? I did have a quick look but since it's not a welfare issue and I'm surpised you can't figure it out with the breadth of experience you have around you, I left it there.

I haven't seen her do that, post a link would you?

I'm surprised other posters haven't tried to pull you apart for this. What you've done here is far worse than posting when you genuinely don't know the person you're supposedly being nasty to. What you've done is truly gutless and hopefully Starbucks won't give your opinion any credence because of it.

I've thought the same as you Starbucks. The loud 'knowledgeable' people (by their own aggrandizement) seem to say very little about how to do something, it appears they can only advise on when something is wrong and only appear to do that so they can belittle.

I don't know if I'm knowledgeable, but I don't spend my whole day on the H+H forum! Therefore, as it moves very quickly, I won't see a lot of threads anyway.
I avoid threads asking "Why do people own cobs?" because I think they are pointless and I know people will get into silly arguments. If I see a thread asking for feed advice for example, and agree with something that has already been said, I won't post to say the same thing again.
"How much spends left after your wages?"... I'd ignore that too. None of anyone's business.
"Am I being unreasonable?", ignore - yes you probably are because otherwise you wouldn't ask.
"HGV is it hard?", another question that wouldn't interest me. Go drive one and find out, it can't be that hard if so many tiny people do it.
A question about cribbing, I'd probably think that this has been done many times if the poster does a search. I can't be bothered typing my usual long reply again.
Oh, and a lot of your threads are in Competition Riders, and as I don't compete I tend not to go there. I just nip into New Lounge and out again.
I think the last thing to remember is that, it's a discusion group, none of us are entitled to get help, so no point moaning if one of your threads gets overlooked.
