Where would be the best place to advertise a nice young dressage horse? My friend is trying to sell her 5 year old but with no luck. Horse and Hound and Horse Deals both have hard copy mags but are they necessarily the best place? Horsedeals doesn't have a dressage section and the horse has been in there for ages but with no replies at all! He was mistakenly in the allrounder section rather than the performance horse section which wasn't helpful. H & H seems to have a good search engine and I also thought of horsemart, horsequest and BD's own website. Do you think that because H & H has a website and a mag it is the best - she had lots of success sellng an advanced horse in H & H but this is just a youngster.

Which sites have people found best? He lightly cribs at feedtime which may be what is putting people off - but he is very cheap because of this. Is it just the time of year, the ecconomy or what? She needs to find a nice home for him asap as she has 2 more advanced horses to work and compete so he isn't getting enough attention which is a shame as he is very sweet

Any good ideas re the cribbing (have tried Settlex) and best place to advertise very gratefully received!

Advert needs to be updated a bit - it is here I think she needs to take out the bit about her being ill and the horse having time off and being restarted as it makes him sound like he's done nothing whereas he is ready to affiliate and compete at prelim level. Barefoot bit could come out and be replaced by something better - not sure if there is a wordcount though. Pics also need updated as he has matured a bit more since then and he is now more like 15.3 - he will prob end up 16hh. Also he only cribs very lightly at feedtime so maybe worth mentioning the cribbing is not that bad. When his owner was ill he went to another yard for a short time and did not crib at all there (it was very busy and he was in an american barn where he could see horses on all three sides), so in the right yard he may not crib at all.

All comments on advert very much appreciated. I have rejgged it a bit for her and printed it onto some A4 fliers she can put in the judges tent when she is out judging and also put in the local tack shops. Its only a small yard I'm at and as I sometimes hack him out I'm very fond of him and would like to see him in a nice home where he will be pampered.

Fredde is for sale through no fault of his own. My friend simply does not have the room or the time to do him justice. The yard has 2 liveries (my own and another horse), Freddie and her mare. My friend and I have been looking to pool our resources and form a consortium to buy a top class dressage horse. We have found her and are crossing fingers, toes and everything else she will pass the vet etc. So in 2 weeks time we may be left with 4 stables but 5 horses. In the short term we will turn 3 out during the day and keep 2 in, then swap over but this is far from ideal should we have bad weather and need to have them all in. Also, as Freddie is the least advanced horse (the mare, my horse and consortium horse are all working medium level and above) he will go to the bottom of the que when time is tight as the others need to be kept fit and supple more than he does – which just isn’t fair on him.

Please feel free to PM me if you want more details. He really is a sweet lttle horse and although green, he is very sensible and good to do in all respects.
