I have just changed on to wood pellets and one of my horses is very clean so no probs at all but the other mixes everything in! I mucked out yesterday for the first time and it took me forever as i only have an old battered shavings fork. Ive seen on the internet that you can buy a fine prong fork however i cant seem to find a site that you can buy them from. Any suggestions would be much appreciated :)

thanks, ive been using my old shavings fork but the prongs seem to be so wide that the little bits of muck are falling through and then it takes me ages to muck out :/

Either contact Aquamax or look on eBay for an aquamax fork.
I find it impossible to use a shavings fork with wood pellets, much easier with the fork designed for the job IMO!

I think its a faff using the aquamax fork, after it broke I started using my standard fynalite shavings fork and wondered why I had bothered with the other one as it took half the time. For the tiny bits of poo (I have a mare and foal on it now) I use a plastic garden sieve which cost me £1.99. considerably cheaper than the aquamax fork and just as effective

My friend went through two of the special forks in a week - they are rather fragile to say the least, and if you catch them against the wall or anythign they just snap - she ended up using the red handled shavings fork with black plastic prongs.

thanks everyone, managed to get one, not cheap though :/ its sturdyish so just using it for picking up the poop then my metal shavings fork for sorting the bed out. It has definately made it easier to do my messy youngsters stable :)

I bought the proper fork from millwheel tack shop Binfield Berks. tend now to use normal shavings fork plastic about £20 not the really cheap ones and get on just as well with that.

Hi,

I too use the red and black fork with no problem, but I'm lucky, my lad poops at the back of his stable. Still get the little bits of poo through the bed though, if it annoys me that much I hand pick it out.

I also use a wide headed brush to level off his bed (I deep litter mine) and find if I use the back of the brush head I can have new stuff out of the banks and leveled off in next to no time, so much easier than trying to get it level with the fork!
