Where can I buy leather clip reins (apart from Stubben)?

I had some loop reins made with clips by Mulryan saddlery in Ireland, they would be able to make reins with clips for you without the loops. Alternatively you can just buy clips on their own and thread the billet hooks through the ends.

When I say loop I mean the ones adapted for disabled riders not the "loop" ones that you see in the saddlery catalogues under the same name which just have the extra leather along the edges.
Mulryan should be able to supply just the clips for you to attach your own reins to if you ask them. :)

Ooohh heck, wish I could post pictures on here.

These "clip reins" are exactly the same as the synthetic ones which endurance riders use - they can unclip them from the bit end very quickly and easily at vet gates. They are like "normal" reins in every respect, just have a clip at the end of the reins which goes onto the bit.
Parrot clips will just fit on ordinary reins because they swivel, to be honest, parrot clips are safest.

They are used a lot for driving, just check they are the right width for the reins.

Yes this is what I want
Sorry OP I am not clear about what sort of reins you are looking for?

Are you looking for an ordinary pair of leather reins, but instead of a billet/buckle fastening to the bit, there's a clip in its place???

Is this what you want?

If so........ I'll PM you as have a pair for sale (woops, advertising!, naughty naughty!)

Ahh, right!

The ones I had for sale have unfortunately just sold :( - but you could try looking on the "Horse and Harmony"/Barefoot website, as they may have some? The ones I had came with a bridle, but they may have some others of similar type on there.

OR....... you could just use ordinary leather reins and then go onto one of the endurance sites like "Performance Equestrian" as they have the clips and/or trigger clips for sale, and then you'd just buckle the end of the reins onto the clips and hey presto!
