Where can I donate used rugs?

I have several rugs which are no longer in use (for horses we no longer have etc.) and not all of them are really worth the effort of selling them. I have a few turnouts which either just need a new strap here or there, one which has been mended and then a perfectly good lightweight t/o. Also a few old fashioned stable rugs, that sort of thing.

Is there anywhere that will accept used rugs as a donation? I will give them a clean first of course. :) I just thought they might do a horse sanctuary a good turn for the winter or something.

Many thanks! Tea and biccies all round.

When my friend lost her very pampered 27 year old Standardbred she donated all his very many millions of lovely Fal rugs to the ILPH (now world horse welfare). Im sure they would be very grateful for good quality rugs for their rescues!

Try to find one of the smaller, more local horse charities. Some of the big charities bleat on about not having any money, when in fact they have many millions stashed away in reserves. The big ones rarely use the rugs that are donated, as they can afford new ones, so they sell them off to raise money. A smaller charity is more likely to need them.
