As title.

Husband's much adored Welsh Section A mare died last summer aged 36. He now feels ready to own another one, and I've said that I'll buy the pony for him as a combined birthday/anniversary present. So - where's best to find them?

He has said that he would prefer another mare, and that he's happy to have an older pony.

Northern Ireland.

A lot go through the sales in Wales if you're happy to travel? There's welsh pony specific sales in Ruthin which isn't that from Holyhead for the ferry. Brechin is the other busier sales. The main Welsh pony and cob sales is in Builth Wells. I'm not sure how feasible the Holyhead Belfast ferry would be for ponies though. The Dublin route is very popular.

I don't think there's a Holyhead to Belfast route, it would be Liverpool to Belfast but that's an 8hr crossing, it's 3 hours from Holyhead and only a 2 hr drive the other side so it would be a quicker option (unless you were buying from the NE Wales / Liverpool area as it's 2hrs to Holyhead from Liverpool to Holyhead)

Do you mean the Brecon sales? Just in case OP is searching for Brechin (in Scotland) and can't find it.

Contact Paula Cullen of Paulank sports horses in Wicklow. She breeds some lovely Welshies and if she doens't have any she will know who does
