Where can I find equestrian statistics?

I need to do smoe research on what proportion on the uk's horse owners are based in devon and cornwall.

Figures for somerset and dorset would also be helpfull

Can anyone help with this?

The BHS were surprisingly unhelpful when I needed this sort of information - but they might have their act a little more together by now.

The British Equestrian Trade ???? had a lot of facts and figures at their fingertips.

I also looked on the Farriers Registration website, who had undertaken a survey to find out how many horses each farrier had on the books and collated this into postcodes. This was 3-5 years ago now, but I was able to put together a rough estimate of the horse population in my part of the world, for a paper I was presenting. The website does need a good trawl round, don't give up if you can't find it at first.
