As the title says! The zip on my nice warm equitector long boots has split. Would a Shoe heel bar type place repair them or should I ask a saddler or ring the manufacturer.
Timpson on the High Street do it too for about 30 squid per boot - tis where I took mine. Or there is a mail order place in Kent which repairs all the Met police riders' boots but can't for the life of me remember the website.
I had my Mountain Horse High Riders in the middle of Summer. Haven't worn them all that much (in the grand scheme of things) and the zip has split on one of them. I'm really disappointed as I'd had my Rimfrosts for 3 years, and worn them year round till I got my High Riders this summer, without the zip failing.
My local saddler will replace the zip, but it's going to cost £40! Cheaper than new boots I agree, but that would make replacing both boots £80 (if you were unlucky enough for both to break) which would mean the zip is the most expensive part of the boot given I only paid £120 for the boots new. Madness.
Oh no that's pricey. Someone told me of a local place that would do them but when I phoned they didn't anymore. The people Toby_z suggested sound really good and I was going to try them but then I had the brainwave of trying Equitector. And they repair their own boots. They have to come back with a price though. Luckily i have discovered I can still wear the boots over Christmas - I think they just got stuck because I was wearing thick socks. But they are coming apart and I shall have to send them away afterwards.
