Just written a new post and it disappeared ! Thankfully some might say!
So in a nutshell, I decided to keep Poppy, my first horse, after I lost my confidence the first time I rode her, nothing that she did, just me. I had decided she had to go back. I bought her 8 weeks ago. I wrote to the previous owner and received a lovely note back, which started to restore my confidence. The previous owner is a lady in her 60's who had had Poppy as a youngster, broke her in when she was 5, she is now rising 9. She said Poppy was a little forward, but she had never been afraid of her, Poppy just loved to go out. She has told me to ring her to talk to her more about her.
Although I have not ridden her since, I have been working with her on the ground, I've tried to lunge her but without too much success, walked her about the farm and hopefully have started to bond with her. She is a very sweet natured mare, and I am very fond of her and I hope she is of me! She whickers when I call her or when she sees me, cupboard love I suspect! Is happy for me to groom her although she can be a little bit selective when it comes to picking out her feet, but I will persevere until they are done. She does look about her, but hey, she's interested.
So this weekend, with the help from my friend, I am going to ride her again. I feel I am ready to do so, and will have someone to walk along side me.
The saying Pride comes before a Fall keeps coming to mind! what's the name of the human calmer??!!
