As title really, friend is starting up a dog walking service and just wondering where would be best to advertise/stick flyers up?
There is currently one up in her pet shop which is well known in the area, but not sure where else to go.
Email address has been setup so thinking FB page maybe that can be shared?

I did a google search on dog walkers in my area and looked through their websites. The one we use now I found on the internet and she was also advertised at the vets.

I'd second the vet route. I was incredibly lucky and found my dogwalker by chance but there are several who have cards/notices up in all the local vets.

Try and get recommendations/posters up at local dog training classes and vets. Poster in the area that you live and then word of mouth is IMO the most successful.

Thanks Guys,
My friend owns the town pet shop so there are a couple up in there!!!
Feed merchant was meant to be done on Wednesday by another friend that was going to buy feed (will check this tomorrow).
Have suggested the vets, another friend runs the dog obedience/puppy classes (gets use of our indoor school for the obedience classes), she does have some but not sure of she's given any out yet.
Did wonder about putting posters up/flyers through doors, someone had advised her against that saying that you could end up with a 100 phonecalls and unable to take them all (personally I think that's unlikely to happen and getting a few phonecalls to start and then word of mouth).
Will be setting up a FB page at the weekend to get the word out as well.

What really helped me to make a choice was the information available on my dog walkers website too. Nothing really flashy but a comprehensive listing of services offered, pricing and the different structures that she offers which I found very helpful (and reasuring!). Mine offers a variety of 'packages' ranging from just calling in to feed/water and spending time with your dog to different lengths of walking times. She is also very flexible on time and will try and accomodate your needs as much as possible i.e. I walk F before work between 7-8 in the morning then leave the house at 8.30. She normally comes in around 1pm to walk him for 45 mins and then we are home at 5.30 so it breaks the day up nicely for him and ensures his walks are spaced out.

She also comes to meet the dog and you before any arrangement is made for walking. She came with all her business docs and insurance and asked us to fill in a fairly comprehensive questionnaire about Freddie including likes/dislikes, good with other dogs, walked with other dogs or singly, any medications etc and what we prefer i.e. walking to heel on lead, commands that we use etc. As there are three people that walk him (her husband and friend walk him too) we were given the opportunity to meet all walkers prior to them actually taking him out. She also offers references and I found her very thorough.

She also leaves us a 'pet log' every time she walks him describing what time she came/left, where they have been, if he has had a treat (he gets one treat on returning from his walk with her), how F is etc etc which I find really helpful.

At the end of the day, you want to know that your dog is in safe, sensible, capable hands and will be looked after while he is in your dog walkers company. I'm really happy with mine and so is F.

Good luck to your friend and hope the above is useful. I seem to have written an essay!

Very helpful, need to try and find someone that could set up a website, not convinced it's something i could even think about learning to do.
Agree with the petlogs, my friend has a new dog walker that leaves them for him, they are highly entertaining for people that know exactly what the dogs are like!!!
