Where did your "horseyness" come from?

I am the only one in my family who loves horses, or any animals for that matter. The only thing I can think of, my earlierst recollection, is that my dad used to (and still does) have a bet on the horses and always used to watch racing on a Saturday.

I do recall, in the days when there were only three channels, watching HOYS with him ... Penwood Forge Mill, David Broom, Eddie Macken, Liz Edgar - oh, I'm showing my age!

My grandparents were farmers and although they were not horsey and my parents and brother definitely aren't, I do have cousins who are quite horsey in different ways, so there is definitely a bit of a family history. I was given a choice when I was 5 years old, Brownies or riding lessons once a week, went to Brownies once, hated it so started riding lessons and never looked back, was completely smitten by the whole thing. Begged my parents for a pony every birthday but had to wait til I was 16 when I started working and bought my first little coloured cob. Have owned several since then and am now the proud owner of an ex racehorse! Archiesmummy, I also remember watching HOYS with my Dad and seeing Pennwood Forge Mill et al
